adidas launches Villagewear designed by Stella McCartney

Following the launch of the British Team kit in March, adidas, the official sportswear provider for the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Creative Director Stella McCartney, have now launched the Villagewear collection (modelled here by British Olympic cyclist, Victoria Pendleton). This relaxed range caters to the needs of the athletes when they are off the field of play, providing a kit that makes them recognisable as a member of the British Team. The idea was to create a bright, vibrant colour palette for the competition-wear and to use softer tones for this range. The Villagewear collection includes T-shirts, joggers, hoodies and leggings, each featuring the signature print. All the styles are available now in selected retailers.

Stella McCartney comments "The inspiration for the Villagewear collection was to create a more relaxed kit that remained stylish yet comfortable for the athletes. It was also important to unify the team, as the one piece of information that really stuck with me when I talked to the athletes about this project, was how they want to feel as a team in the Village, to feel like they are one voice and one nation."
